Lauren McElroy - Fiber Artwork
Lauren is a multidisciplinary textile artist, engaging with the craft at many stages. They process and dye local wool, spin yarn, make visual art, and design knitwear. Lauren has published over 60 knitting patterns independently and has been published in interweave knits, vogue knitting, making magazine, spin off magazine, knitstrips interactive knitting, ply magazine, and is a season 7 Knitstar.
Lauren is currently working on a collection of what will eventually become a deck of cards. The images are free form intuitive designs created by using a punch needle embroidery technique on hand dyed fabric.”

My inspiration and desire to create is drawn from the beauty of the Midwest and my very own fantasy world. Choice of medium is acrylic on stretch canvas. As a child I dreamt of becoming a skilled portrait artist; it has been so fulfilling to witness that in fruition. A bold and vivid pallet is chosen for dreamy landscapes. My aim for creating such artwork is to spark possibly a loss sense of childlike wonder.
I live and work on commissions from my home in Westby. My two boys and husband enjoy our days in the garden, hiking and camping. Much gratitude is held for dwelling in such a creative and kind community.
