Collage Artist, Virginia Tromp, is VIVA’s July Guest Artist!

The spirit, nature and cosmos has influenced my work.
My inspiration is the world around me, seen and unseen.

Artist Statement:

It is my belief that ART in all forms, possesses a non-physical code that has the abilities to transform and transmit energy. ART embodies a conscious and unconscious intention that maybe seen or unseen, yet can be felt. It carries a vibrational change. Connecting with this knowingness, spirit and intuition these collage pieces were a process of layering pieces, experimenting, accepting, cutting, gluing, ungluing and moving on and then more layering changing, transforming and creating, experimenting, accepting and moving on and then more layering changing, transforming and creating and then complete. Like all life it continues to evolve.

Virginia answers some questions!

What influencing your work at the moment?
Nature and the spirit world are my influences.

How did you come to focus on your current subject?
The focus comes through a dream, ceremony, intuition or feeling that some wants to be created.

Can you articulate what draws to a particular composition?
Always a feeling.

What is your medium?

Collage is my medium, I love cutting and creating a big picture out of many small images.

How do you know your finished?
I know when I am finished when my eyes don’t stop when I am looking at the work.

What’s your studio like?
My studio looks like a mess. When I am in a flow, I just keep going, and when I don’t know where to begin, it is time to reorganize.
